Two sad stories in one day!
First, an officer "ambushed," shot while leaving the scene of what police say was a DUI traffic stop. She was shot multiple times. She's in good condition which is GREAT news!
Second story, just awful! A six week old baby girl died over the weekend after she was rushed to a hospital last week. Her dad agreed to an interview today because he wants other parents to know the danger of sleeping with your baby. He told me that he had fallen asleep on the couch with little Elizabeth Rose. When he woke up she was "unresponsive."
Watch the story here.
This poor man was so torn up. He was just holding on to her little blanket and fighting back the tears as best he could. I can't imagine the pain he and the baby's mom are going through. Being a mom I'll admit I have fallen asleep with my little boy numerous times. This story broke my heart. As I was listening to him talk I got goosebumps just thinking about it. He had so much guilt. The poor mom, she was at work when it happened. My heart breaks for them both.
Stories like this are hard to cover. It's hard not to think about my own child when I hear these stories. I'll admit when I picked my little boy up after work I hugged him a little tighter.
This family may not be the wealthiest, and they may admit to having their own problems in the past, but none of that matters. They lost a child this week and will forever be changed by those events.
They had a sign posted at their house that simply said "Please Pray For Us."
There are a lot of families out there that do believe in co-sleeping. This story is not to say anything negative about those families, it's simply to let this family's voice be heard regarding what happened to their baby.

I'm Too Late
So, I've been thinking about starting this blog for a long time. I finally did it a few days ago, no posts just the basic layout and then yesterday I get an e-mail from my boss that contains a blog post from a reporter/anchor/tv person that I don't know who has done the SAME thing!
I never thought the idea was original, but what are the chances she would find that the same week?
Oh well. I'm still going to try to keep this going.
Feel free to send me your thoughts and questions. What do you want me to post about? What do you want to know?

Lice-Busters!
Lice... Yuck!
One of those gross things kids seem to love to pass around... but did you know often times MOMS have lice and don't even know it!
I met two great ladies Wednesday. Ashli and Summer are the minds behind Lice-ology. What a brilliant idea! They come to your house and get rid of the lice on your child's (or your own) head. How great is that... no big banner or truck that says, "my kid has LICE." Just two ladies with a weird little machine that is guaranteed to kill the lice. They say they are "Oklahoma's (not so) dirty little secret."
They actually rent the machine from a guy out of state, but there's nothing else like this around here.
They told me that they recently had a family come all the way from Missouri to be treated. They said the girl told them she thought she had had lice for TWO YEARS!! There were thousands of critters and eggs in the girls hair. It was even crawling on the back of her shirt. But by the time she left she was lice free.
Check these moms out here.
(sorry for the excessive use of exclamation points in this post!!)

The Crumbling Crosstown
Another hole in I-40... that was Thursday's story.. not the greatest first post, but I'll do a couple of a few past stories soon too.
Did you know when you stand on an Interstate it bounces like crazy... makes me a little nauseous! Apparently, it has be have that bounce or else traffic couldn't drive on it. Stand still on the second floor of the mall and you can feel the same thing. weird!
The good news... a new I-40 is coming. It looks pretty good so far, except to bad someone has already covered parts of it with graffiti. Why do people do that?
